Scholarships & Tuition Assistance

Uno Más

www.uno-mas.org

Uno Más focuses primarily on supporting children in the form of scholarships. The foundation also is involved in improving schools by providing support for adequate teachers, teaching materials, and all that is needed to achieve a quality education.  In addition to matching sponsors with the children  from poor families,  Uno Más also providesindividual scholarships to young people who want to further their education after primary school. They seek motivated individuals from poor families who want to develop themselves based on their own strengths and self-esteem into healthy, educated professionals who can break the cycle of poverty and chart their own future.

Through the generosity of sponsors in the Netherlands and elsewhere, Uno Más provides tuition assistance to some of our students at Brillo de Sol.  They also provide additional direct assistance to help Brillo de Sol to improve the quality of our educational program.  More information on their work at Brillo de Sol can be found here.

Educational Support and Volunteers

Ministerios Buena Vista

Through the generosity of Ministerios Buena Vista the children of Brillo de Sol start their day with a nutritious breakfast.   Pastor Danny Lopez and his ministry supply the food and the mothers and staff take turns cooking and serving breakfast to the children.  Afterward, it’s all hands on deck for cleanup before starting class.

Proyecto de Carpintería Alotenango

Here, some of our students learn carpentry skills allowing them to make furniture, home décor and other woodworking objects.  In addition to introducing our students to opportunities that could lead to a future trade, they learn valuable skills to supplement their education such as geometry, mathematical precision, and artistry.
